The foundation of everything I teach is based on a three-point formula.

Regardless of whether I'm teaching entrepreneurs how to start and scale their businesses or job hunters to find their dream jobs at dream companies for dream pay, this formula follows the same three steps:

  1. Align your intentions,

  2. Embody those intentions deeply, and

  3. Take inspired action daily.

As you'll learn, several things go into these aspects. We're going to dive deep into them, but I'm giving you a bit of an overview so you understand how these steps really work with each other, and what I mean when I'm referring to them.

Align your intentions

What first goes into aligning your intentions is bringing all aspects of your psyche on board.

Once you bring all aspects of your brain on board with what your new intention is, it's going to be easier for you to pursue it. Here's the thing: Even if you're looking to succeed, a lot of us have this fear of success. The things we want more than anything are often the things that we're actually afraid of as well.

They're new. They're different. They're change.

Although our brains don't necessarily like the situation we're in now, that situation is familiar. Your brain essentially says, "The devil I know is better than the devil I don't."

So, we have to work on our mindset said to get all parts of it on board.

The next part of aligning those intentions is really connecting with your own heart space.

This is where we have to look at our self-care habits, how we're setting boundaries, etc. We need to take inventory not not only of what's going on in our subconscious, but what we're seeing in our lives around us. (After all, it wouldn't be called the subconscious if it were easy for us to access and understand.) So, we need to learn how to how to look at our external circumstances and see how that's reflecting our mindset.

For example, there's a saying that if you want to know what someone's mental state is, look at their house. I know that when I'm stressed and feeling chaotic, my house is a disaster.

Finally, the last part of aligning your intentions is following joy and passion.

A lot of us have gotten into our careers because we kind of fell into them. Maybe we don't love our careers or businesses as much as we could or we just don't like the financial circumstances that we're in.

When we learn to start following joy instead of what feels most likely to make money or most realistic, when we turn off that little chatter in the back of our minds. When we start looking at what's bringing us joy, what we're feeling passionate about, we will start feeling different and bringing more fun into our lives. Once we do that, we naturally start raising our standards and engaging with the world differently.

Embody your intentions deeply

This is where we're looking to create a life that's reflecting your magnetic self.

So, the version of you who has the goals that you're trying to achieve, who's already accomplished it, they're already there... what does their life look like? Are there ways for you to change how your life looks now to mimic that?

One of the things I commonly hear is, "If I were making the amount of money that I wanted to make, I would have a cleaner." I tell people, "Great, yeah, absolutely! But if you can't afford a cleaner right now, maybe there's a way to get what you need in a creative way."

For example, I love to cook, but I hate to clean. So, if I were to pair up with a friend who hates to cook, but doesn't mind cleaning, we could trade. Maybe I do her meal prep for the week and she cleans my house or helps me clean it.

If I trade with somebody, my brain doesn't think, "I have a complex trade deal going on." Instead, my brain looks around the house and says, "Wow! It's clean! And someone else cleaned it for me! I have a cleaner! But I didn't think I would have a cleaner until after I achieved my money goal. Well, I must have achieved the goal. But I don't remember achieving the goal..."

Second only to survival, your brain's main job is to solve problems. So, when it sees a discrepancy like that, it says, "OK, I have to close the gap because this doesn't make sense." That's when you'll start firing off with ideas and intuition to close that gap, to get you where you need to be, because your brain is going to say, "I need to have achieved the goal to have this."

The other part of embodiment is really connecting with the feeling of abundance.

When you live your life in a way that you feel abundant before the money shows up, it becomes a lot easier for you to then connect with the money because your your emotions aren't completely dependent upon you receiving the money---you're already feeling that way. So, the money naturally comes through because you're not putting all this pressure on it.

It's the same thing as dating. If you've ever met somebody who's really thirsty or like just desperate for a boyfriend, marriage, a wife, whatever, you can feel it on them. It's that same concept of becoming happy on your own before you find somebody else. Otherwise, we select people because we think they're going to make us happy and we put the pressure of our happiness on them when they don't deserve that. Rather, we need to make ourselves happy and then the happiness attracts the right people. It's the same with money.

Take inspired action daily

The first thing is building motivation. And I say "building" purposefully because a lot of people will talk about motivation like it's buried treasure. "I need to find the motivation. I need to find it." But we don't find motivation. We build it. It's a muscle.

We have to practice taking action toward our goals. Even if we don't feel ready, even if we feel scared, it doesn't matter. My big saying is, "Do it messy, do it scared." We have to get used to doing that so we build the muscle of motivation.

That's only going to build momentum and it's going to start snowball and create an effect where now we naturally take action on the things that we want to do. To get there, we gotta practice it.

The other part of this is awakening your intuition. Some of this is going to be a little bit research based. There are places we can look for inspiration on what our intuition might look like for us. That could be human design or astrology. But what's most important is how it's shown up for you in the past and what you identify as your intuition.

Some people just know things. They're claircognizant, which means it just pops into their head. Some people get visual cues. Some people get songs that play that are guiding them toward things. By getting clear on what your intuition is, it's going to be a lot easier for you to know when you are experiencing it.

And then finally, creating a personalized money strategy. Everybody has something that works for them. No matter what we use, we need to engage with our money. We can't just hide from it. By engaging with our money and finding a way that works for us, that's going to be the thing that really helps, honestly.

So, whether you want to use an Excel spreadsheet, YNAB, Dave Ramsey's Every Dollar, Mint, or whatever---finding something that works for you, that you can enjoy is crucial.

It's critical because by taking that action, money feels supported, so it's only going to attract more money to you.

How these steps interact with each other

This crazy looking triangle is the example I use for entrepreneurs. I'm gonna use it just because I think I can communicate it a little bit clearer here, but it's the same for pretty much everybody and how these steps interact.

When I'm talking about aligning your intentions, that's just building what I call mindset. It's just really getting your brain on board. It's doing the digging into your subconscious, it's reprogramming those beliefs with journaling prompts and meditations, it's the reinforcements, all of that stuff.

When I'm talking about embodying those intentions deeply, that's building what I call drive. Drive is where you're not having to deal with the imposter syndrome, you're not having to fake it till you make it, you don't have to find the motivation anymore, you take actions and you live in a certain way because that's the way you've set your life up. It's easy for you to believe these new things, because you have built your life to support those beliefs.

And then finally, taking inspired action daily, that's building what I call gumption. Gumption is your unique trust in your own unique plan. The example I point to are old Hollywood comedies. All of these comedies kind of follow the same premise, where it's like: here's a ridiculous scenario. And everyone says, "Oh my gosh, what are we gonna do?" And the main character says, "I know what we should do: something ridiculous." And everyone goes, "Oh my god, we can't do that, that's ridiculous!" And then what happens? They do it, a bunch of shenanigans happen, and everything turns out all right in the end.

The movie Some Like It Hot is a great example of this. So, it's like, "Oh no! We're being chased by the mob!" "I know what we need to do: We need to cross-dress as women, join an all-female band, and escape to Florida." Like... what? That doesn't make any sense. But, they do it. And, what happens? The mob gets arrested, they get the girls, they go back to wearing men's clothing, and everybody's happy.

If you're a sports fan, you, you may remember this Bud Lite commercial they had a few years ago that highlighted all these things that people do during sports seasons: not washing their jerseys, not shaving their beards, things like that. And the tagline was "It's not crazy if it works." This is the same kind of concept.

How these steps interact with each other is that when mindset meets drive, that's when you become that next level version of yourself. You start showing up with swag, you start interacting in the world differently, people will start reacting to you differently, things start to change because you are changing.

When mindset meets gumption, that's when you're doing: You're taking actions that move the needle, rather than feeling like you're throwing spaghetti at the wall trying to see what's gonna stick or like you're on a hamster wheel running, running, running, and not getting anywhere.

And when drive meets gumption, but especially when all three click into place, that's when you have the results.

Mindset

OK, so, in mindset, we talked about aligning your psyche. We talked about passion and joy. One of the other parts of this is building rituals. Rituals can be literally spells like literal rituals, rituals like that, or it can be things that we do every day to keep our mindset on point.

Something that can show this as an example in the opposite is that when my depression is really high, I won't brush my teeth. It's gross. I hate it, but I just won't do it when my anxiety or depression is bad. A lot of times, it's more of a chicken-and-egg scenario than we realize. Like, am I not brushing my teeth because I'm depressed, or is not brushing my teeth making me feel depressed? We want to make sure that we have rituals that allow us to feel good about things.

That's where we have to establish self-care routines. We have to make sure that we're putting ourselves first and doing as much as we can for our own mental health. And if you have no money and feel absolutely broke, there are free things that you can do that are going to help your mental health like getting the right amount of sleep or drinking enough water. Basic things that don't necessarily cost money, those are things that can actually improve your mental health.

A big part of mindset is looking at your chicken-or-egg scenarios. Like, I naturally don't do these things when I start feeling down or stressed out. So, maybe I need to actually prioritize them to avoid that feeling.

Drive

Now, when we're looking at this drive corner, that's going to look like boundaries---and not just with other people (because that's always the first place we look). A lot of times we have to look at the boundaries we're placing or not placing with ourselves. So, this is where that self-care routine can come into question, where it's like, "OK, am I actually not doing this because I feel a certain way? Do I need to force myself to get it done?"

It also looks like that for career, too. Career, work, entrepreneurship, whatever way you make money: Looking at what you are enabling to happen there. That could be you always picking up the slack for a co-worker... but you're the one who is always picking up the slack. If your boss keeps giving you too much work, but you're completing it. ...Those are where we need to start setting the boundaries with ourselves. There are always ways you can have those conversations with people, but it needs to start with you first.

How do you need to be setting boundaries? Do you actually not have time to get the things done that you said you were going to get done today? Or is it that you just don't want to at this point because you're tired?

And also knowing that there's an art to this, it's a dance. Some days are needed to rest. For example, I know that when I go speak somewhere, I need to rest the next day that I get back. Or when I travel, I need to come home and like do nothing the next day because my brain's not working at the same speed. So, I'm not avoiding the stuff that I said I would do. I just can't do it. But that's because I've had to experiment with it. That's trial and error.

Chances are you know what some of your boundaries are that you're violating with yourself that you need to enforce. That's going to empower you to set boundaries with other people.

The other part of this is clearing space. As far as money goes, this can look like space in your budget. Like how many things are you paying for every month that are like $5 here, $15 there, all of those subscriptions. You need to clear space there because some of that stuff you actually don't need if you really need to really think about it.

Then there's physical space. If you feel cramped in your surroundings, if you have too much stuff and you need to do the KonMari method, that's going to create a feeling of openness, of lightness, of abundance.

Clearing space can happen in your schedule. I once had somebody who wanted to hire me as a coach and I had to turn her down because when I talked to her about like her main problem being that she didn't have any time, but she didn't have any time. When she broke down her day, she was on call eight-plus hours a day from the moment she woke up. Part of it was that she was like doing a lot for her kids, her business, and for other people. Time has to come from somewhere and we can't keep robbing ourselves of sleep to find it.

These are the things that allow you to show up with that bad bitch energy. Now, you're energized, you're getting enough sleep, you're taking care of yourself, you cleared out all the stuff that's in the way. Now, you show up with swag. And that makes it really easy for you to feel abundant. Now you feel abundant, and you're not putting that same pressure on bringing the money in to feel that way.

Clearing space and setting boundaries, that's the thing that unlocks embodiment. Of course, other things as like magic stuff, like deity work and astrology, human design, stuff can go in there and like really help you with that as well. But these are the basics of building that drive.

Gumption

We talked about awakening your intuition, but the other part of awakening that intuition is learning how to focus and prioritize.

What happens when you start living intuitively and taking intuitive actions is that the floodgates open. All of a sudden, all this information just starts pouring down through your head and you've got ideas. Some of the ideas are meant for you. Some of them may not be. Some require you to drop everything and focus, and some don't need your attention for a while.

Learning how to use your intuition to really prioritize that list and stay focused on what you're doing, that's critical because otherwise you wind up half-assing a million things instead of whole-assing one or two things and actually getting results on those few things.

OK, so I had said this was for entrepreneurs. This is why: The things that I use here as examples. We've got business strategy and heart-based sales, but what I would say here is this is going to be the money management strategy.

We talked about having to find a personalized money strategy. Of course you need that, but it also has also needs to be heart-centered. This is not about restricting and denying yourself things because when we get to the point where we're like, "OK, I can't afford DoorDash anymore. I'm spending $500 a month on it. So, that's it. No more."

That is only going to (A) make DoorDash more appealing and (B) really kill your vibe. Now you're gonna start feeling like, "I can't have it. Things are so tight, life sucks, I really want some frozen yogurt." It just makes you feel awful. So, rather than being like, "OK, I'm done with DoorDash---never again," the first thing we're gonna do is ask ourselves, "Can I bring that spending from $500 to $300?" Can I walk it back?

You also need to make room for the things that you really care about. Maybe you love golfing and going out to the golf course or to the driving range once a week is something that really makes you feel good about things, makes you feel good about yourself, and helps you so much. We're not gonna cut it just because we can and it's an unnecessary expense, because for you, it is a necessary expense. Same with shopping.

If shopping and buying clothes is something that you need because that's part of your self-expression, then we're just gonna make sure that we're planning for it. That's what I mean by a heart-based approach to things.

So, for entrepreneurs, it's gonna be heart-based sales. But for the rest of us, that's basically asking how are we making money? That's gonna be something we get into about how to figure out if it's something that's still aligned.

Whether you're an entrepreneur or traditionally employed, it doesn't matter. If you don't love the things that you're doing or you don't love the ways that you have to show up, something's gotta change. That joy, that passion, that's the thing that's going to attract the money. So we have to make sure it's all heart-based.

So, these are the basics! We're gonna go over each of them in their own module, we're gonna really get into the nitty-gritty. Hopefully this made a lot of sense and I'll see you in the next video.
